About this riding route
The Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway is a 110 mile corridor across the state on land bought for a barge canal that was never finished. The section around Ocala carries a dedicated equestrian trail system with its own trailheads and trailer parking. The footing is mostly sand and pine flatwoods, and the riding is easy and flat, which makes this one of the better winter destinations for horse people traveling south.

Know before you go
- Santos is a major mountain bike hub. Stay on the marked equestrian trails.
- Florida requires proof of a negative Coggins test for horses off your own property.
- Sand footing is deep in stretches and takes more out of a horse than the flat profile suggests.
