Backcountry Pack-Trip Packing List
A multi-day outfitter or pack trip means hours in the saddle and nights away from the trailhead. Pack light but complete: weatherproof layers, the few personal items the outfitter won’t supply, and nothing that won’t survive a pannier. Always confirm the outfitter’s weight limit and gear list first.

Common questions
- How much can I bring on a pack trip?
- Most outfitters cap personal gear at roughly 25–40 lb in soft duffels that load into panniers, and hard suitcases don’t fit. Always check the specific weight limit and provided-gear list before you pack, since it varies by operator and trip length.
