  My wife found this ranch that offered so much. All I wanted to do was ride a horse. This place offered so much more! I want to thank Larry for making me feel like an old friend! We shared stories of our past lives and found that for many years we walked in the same combat boots! He is a true hero for what he has done and what he and his family created for all of us to enjoy!   I LOVED THIS PLACE. my wife and I came for Valentine's getaway, stayed the night before Valentine's day we know booking the day of would be crazy. And it was bless the cowboys and horses. When we arrived and checked it the lady at the desk was SO kind, now as a Texan and going on a mans ranch I brought him a bottle of whiskey I mean I'm riding the cowboys horse lol and many of my family members come to ride and stay. We started off on a ride it was just the wife and I, it was so peaceful and beautiful after our ride we settled in our beautiful cabin room for a bit before the ride to feed the cows and longhorns once we arrived back on ranch for dinner it was amazing! After dinner we went to the fire pit to hear Mr. Cortez stories and that man is GREAT! We sat at the campfire with the cowboys an a few other guest all got to know one another having drinks enjoying a Windy peaceful night the next day we got out Valentine's horse ride it was again beautiful. I loved this place so much I asked I'll even work for free let me know when I can the man said call us back. I definitely will return back as a regular! Thank you again to the staff in the office, the kitchen, the cowboys and all. I'll NEVER forget this memory and the horses I rode. *If you're advanced just let them know we saw a couple that were visiting and they were in the arena and even helping with the cows. *

  We visited as a group of 40 for the day and had a great time. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They help with the trail rides and roping lessons. We were treated with special performance by a champion trick roper. The dinner was good. To end the night we had a local cowboy singing very well. But one of the highlights was Larry Cortez. He made sure everyone felt welcome and had a good time. He told stories and jokes. It is possible to book a room and has a pool and game room.

  We had a fantastic time at Rancho Cortez! We were two families visiting from Switzerland during our two-week road trip through Texas, and spending half a day here was definitely a highlight of our trip. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. They made us feel right at home and were wonderful with the kids (ages 8–12), who absolutely loved the experience. We enjoyed horseback riding, learning how to use a lasso, feeding the cattle, and getting a real taste of ranch life. It was authentic, fun, and very well organized — perfect for families. If you’re looking for a genuine Texas ranch experience with super friendly people, this is the place. Highly recommended!
