Cook Forest Scenic Trailride, Dude Ranch, and Campground

  This review is strictly based on the cabin rental. Horrible accommodations. Unfriendly owners. We rented the “super deluxe “ cabin for a week. At check in I was surprised by a $180 bill when I mailed a check in the about to the penny she told me. The door knob fell off in our hand opening the front door and doesn’t lock. NOTHING is included! When you tell me there is a kitchenette when I specifically ask what is there that implies some kitchen stuff! Thank god we brought a coffee pot and I had bare essentials in my trailer. Ad says A/C. However none in the insinuated bedrooms that you can see daylight through the walls! It was a hot box! Tiny ac in the room with a table. No kitchen sink, no dishes, no ice cube trays, nothing! No towel hooks in the bathroom. And bonus mice poop and nice craving around at night. Horse barn a doors don’t close well. We had to hammer boards back in because nails were sticking out. Stalls stunk of urine. Owners couldn’t really tell us anything about the trails or how to use the app that they endorse. Staff was super friendly but not knowledgeable about the trails. Trails near the campground aren’t well marked. There are a lot of unmarked forks. They will not trailer you to the trails across the road and you have to guess where to park yourself. The trails are gorgeous but I’d NEVER stay with them again! Oh, for a horse campground with 40 horses they don’t know of a farrier if you loose a shoe?! I do imagine their guided rides would be lovely. Sad this place could have been incredible and I’d love to send my friends but I just can’t. Maybe if you were in your own trailer? But the owners were still not helpful or welcoming,

  It is an absolutely beautiful facility. The camping anemones are great. There are many locations with electric and water hookup and shelters provided for your horses. Although I did not get to explore the campground very much, we did explore the trails. Most of the trails we rode were very nice but we did not find them to be well marked. It was very difficult to try to follow the trail in conjunction with the map that they provided. There were many places where there were no markers at all and we spent most of our time backtracking. It's not a place you would really want to get lost. My next trip there, I will try to ride with a guide that is familiar with the trails. Otherwise it's well worth the trip to go and enjoy this beautiful facility.

  2 years in a row we've come here and gone on a trail ride. We love it! The guides are friendly and knowledgeable. I can't wait to go back!

  Oh my gosh, what an amazing experience. The people are wonderful, and the horse ride experience was great. It was a gorgeous trail with a variety of terrain including forest and water. We had a nice easy chat along the way and talked about the wildlife in the area. I'd absolutely go back and try a longer or different ride.
